The chapel of St Lázaro and hospital and neighbourhood
of the same name are situated two hundred metres from the town
walls of Ribadavia, as it was previously a leper colony, which
were said to bring bad luck and illness in medial times.
The hospital of Lazarino dates from the eighteenth century and
there are documents mentioned in the testament of the Pedro Perez
Alonso and Juan Perez Bamnos, which contain their desire to donate
a hospital Lazarados.
